Optional Built-in Shadowbox / Lightbox...

RC Gallery includes a gorgeous jQuery based shadowbox (or lightbox), with silky smooth animations done in a way that'll really make your images pop. If you prefer, you can use it with whichever other shadowbox or lightbox plugin you normally use.

Customisable...

You can change the image spacing and the size of the rows in your galleries, round off corners on your thumbnails and choose whether or not to show the image names, depending on your needs.

WebP Thumbnails (if supported by server)
WebP thumbnails are now created alongside jpg ones, and are served up to supported browsers, reducing download size by ~33%.

Support for additional image formats
.webp, .bmp and .wbmp image formats are now supported, alongside the existing .jpg, .png and .gif.

Show image titles in the shadowbox
This has been the one of the most requested features for a little while. Well, now it's here!

Loads of new customisation options
- Thumbnail background colour (for while the images are loading)
- Image titles are fully customisable
- Rounded corners for thumbnails
- Sepia and greyscale options for thumbnails
- Change overlay colour and opacity in the shadowbox

Image sorting
Another heavily requested feature. Images can now be sorted by either file name, date or just random. Date is based on the exif data, if available.

Lazy loading
Images now load after the initial page load, meaning that your galleries won't slow down navigation around your site. Don't worry though - this doesn't result in content moving around on the page as the images load. Instead, the thumbnail placeholders are shown on the page already in the correct size for the images to pop into.

Image rotation
The gallery now respects any rotation data in the image's exif, making sure your images are always the right way round

  • Support for a new addon! There's now a social addon, which lets you add buttons to the shadowbox to share directly to Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or Tumblr.
  • Support for anchor links. Anchor links allow directly linking to an image in the gallery. When the page loads, it scrolls to that image in the gallery, and opens it in the shadowbox seamlessly.

  • Update to the image sizing algorithm, to keep images much closer to the target row height, for a cleaner, more organized look.

  • Minor bug fix release

  • Now supports touch gestures! Mobile users can now swipe left or right to navigate through images in the shadowbox (note that if you're updating from an older version, you may need to change to the newer shadowbox in the plugin's settings to get this feature).

Functionality
RC Gallery is a great looking, fast and simple gallery which is especially good at preserving aspect ratios of images.
Ease of use
RC Gallery is so easy to use that not much instruction is needed.
Support
So far, I haven't needed any support but it looks like you can contact the developer directly via his website if needed.
Documentation
Clear documentation is included in the plugin which is sufficient to configure the extension.
I used this to: I use RC Gallery to display galleries in articles in various websites.

Functionality
it works exactly as I wanted. The text, to my photos with a separat text file. And I can sort the photos ascending or descending. Very good!
Ease of use
Very easy and that due to a very good documentation and support. Thanks to a text file I Can use my old text file to the photos

Very good and fast support. My problem was solved right away in a very easy to understand way.

I used this to: My food pictures which I present descending parallell to my blog. I will use it on my travel site and a site for my cruises on the Baltic sea (74). So it will be many pictures to write text to.

perfect function algorithm works fast the design is beautiful and helps a lot

with other photo modules I have a hard time using it but rc gallery is very respon

the documentation is well explained and the understanding is very easy

Very good beginning plugin

Functionality
This does what we were looking for: uses "gallery" to display contents of a directory in a lightbox. Period. However it also displays
Ease of use
ALL images in the directory on the page. There is no way - that i can find - to just display one image that can be clicked on to provide
I used this to: website bahaismexicali at org Our upgraded to Joomla! 4.0.4 site. Still cannot post this Review. It now says: "I use this for..." should be longer than 64 characters. Boy, we really gotta love this plugin to go through all these hoops just to post a review - lol.
Owner's reply: Thanks for the lovely review Fred. You've probably worked it out by now, but you could place a cingle image by having a directoy which only contains one image.

Also, thanks for taking the extra effort to leave your review. The Joomla Extensions Directory is an extremely frustring beast at times!

Great gallery, versatile and easy

Functionality
Javascript gallery with navigation. User can click on the generated thumbnails to enlage the pictures.
Ease of use
Simple to use and setup, configuration is easy, just defining a set of directories, which contains the images.
Support
Support is not great, means non existant.
Send a support request over the website and never got a respond from the developer back, sad.
Documentation
Documentation is enough to customize the plugin and mostly selfexplained
I used this to: I use this for food pictures to present and there were no complaines at all.
works like a charm on desktop and mobile.

For anyone reading this - I did get back to Jörn-Ingo and resolve the issue he was having but he hasn't updated his review (I don't know if that's possible on the JED to be honest).

It's worth noting: I don't make any promises about support for my free plugins unless you buy the paid add-ons. I always get back to people, but can't make non-paying users a priority, which I'm sure most people understand.

Functionality
It's a simple and responsive gallery that works fine on mobile devices too. It is recommended if you have a large number of photos.
Ease of use
It is very easy to set up, with its editor button addon you need only one click!
Support
I asked Rich a little question and his answer was very quick and resolutive.
Documentation
The documentation is rich and very clear.
I used this to: I used it in the website of a gardener, in its photographic showcase.
