The rating "very poor" is only for Joomla 3.1.5. I think that at least Localise for Joomla 2.5 works fine.
Owner's reply

Fixed in Localise version 3.2.1

Hi everyone,
I need some help.

This component is very good and proffesional tool. I used so old version for J!1.5 from Ifan Evans. This component for J!2.5 has a great function...button for google translation. What have to do to make it work? Some google plugin, modul or what I need?

Thanks guys.

This extension has been a lifesaver. I am translating rather complex websites like webshops and blogs. Plugins like Localize is simply a must then

I downloaded and tested j!Language Editor, Localise and MissingT

Localise has a very large functionality.

Even compared with missingT Localise get's some advantages:
-Autotranslation lets you choose which entries you'd like to translatees.
-text editor available to fix corupt files.
Compared with missingT there is just one small disadvantage: Theher is no export function.

Like in missingT there is no possibility to create a missing file.
Also it's not possible to create a override file, so updating joomla can overwrite the changes. Override files aren't even recoginesed.

I'd like Localise even more, if there would be a functionality to create an manage override files.
Owner's reply

joomla own has edit override functions
but in localise you can edit override files too by filter select type to override

There is a Joomla 1.5 compatible component named "Translation Manager", it has a search option and that makes it the best on the market, the only problem is it is not Joomla 2.5 compatible. This is more like a request than a review, it would be great if your component would have a search option for increased flexibility! Thank you!

As i run websites with lots of additional language files, this tool is quite helpful - thanks to the developer! On the other hand, I miss rudimental editing functions like 'search and replace'. Without these functions the application just solves 50% of the problem.

Wow... I am not very urge to even install these kind of 'tools' on the sites - but once I came upon problems with the languages on Joomla 1.7 I decided to use it.

And thankfully I did. Since it is really amazing job what it does - completely organized and error reported language structure for the whole site.. Finnally I saw where I had 'old' ini files and why they did not worked.. Thanks

In my wait for completely and perfect auto-translations I will settle for this tool. To be serious, this tool does what it says, and makes you really get control over your translations. I found it to be very easy to use and to be a huge time-saver, at least for me. I don't have any negative to report thus far.

There has been many waiting and hoping for this component, and we're very glad that someone brought it back to life. This is really the beauty of open source. If someone don't have time or can't fix something, there is often other who can. :)

Thank you!
PS! If you set up a donation we will thank you even more. ;)

I was searching quite a time now for a translation tool working under J1.6/J1.7. I was using the J1.5 translation manager for years.

It one of the must-have tools a administrator to localise components, modules and plug-ins in another language. It shows all the not translated language strings that aren't translated, have been missed or added.

This component works very well, installs without problems and I can recommend it.

Thanks Christophe. Great job!
