This means that each row from your excel sheet will create one new article/item on your site. Website creators who want to populate a site quickly by importing existing articles, will find this particularly useful as it eliminates a time consuming, manual process. Furthermore you can update existing articles by downloading the existing ones and reuploading them by ID. Or do the same and then upload your joomfish translations.

Until now, every week, I manually copied my data and pasted them in text articles. What a waste of time!
Every article has access right connected with some registred user(s), so I have to be well organized.
I searched for solution to automate this process and decided to give a try to Content Uploader.
The description and reviews were positive and I decided to subscribe to Content Uploader PRO.
It didn't work (in other words, I couldn't manage to make it work) and at first I had no feedback from my messages in the forum.
I was a bit disappointed, then I made some more insistent mails to the component's author, well, it was on the 1. or 2nd of January, so Champagne may have played his role... ;-)
Then Pete mailed me back, and within 2 days, with some help from him, my problem was solved at my full satisfaction.
Thank you very much Pete, my money is well invested in this time saving component.
I estimate, this will spare me about 30 hours of my time every year!

Now that I have the spreadsheet template set, and the created article IDs in the spreadsheet as well, I can update information across numerous articles quickly, whether it is changing metadata, publish/un-publish dates, category, alias, title, everything.
The developer was quick to answer some pre-purchase questions I had before I pulled the trigger on the purchase. I have not had a need to contact for support, so I can't advise about that, but the fact that I haven't needed to contact him says a lot about the product.
Here are my tips.
Make sure you get "clean" data from your old site. I am transforming and cleaning XML and HTML to get it to the point where it is a well structured Excel file. This will vary based on your data. For me, this is where I spent the majority of my time. HTML encoding some things, find and replace other things, it is a pain.
But, once you have clean data, you can use this extension to import into Joomla as regular articles or K2 items. I ended up using K2 so I could structure the content better. That is very powerful, so I highly recommend looking into that.
Take your time to make sure you set up everything first, and once you finally have everything set up, you can easily move hundreds or thousands of items in no time.
I would much rather go through the time and trouble of setting up all of this (getting old data cleaned, setting up this component to prep it for data), then to do some other manual copy and paste process. It did take me longer to prep everything than I thought, but most of that was on the old CMS, and my own learning curve for K2 and this extension. But, once I got everything figured out, this extension really worked great.
I did have to save my Excel file to the older XLS format, that made the data load better into Joomla for some reason. Other than that, this extension worked great and was consistent and predictable. I highly recommend it if you are going to migrate from one CMS to Joomla. The K2 integration was key for me, and I suggest you consider that if your data is anything more than plain.
For one, works like a charm,is feature rich, and easy to use. I needed to import over a thousand articles from ModX to K2, which looked like it was going to be a nightmare! This extension made it very manageable. My experience level is Advanced but even a novice could use this.
Secondly, I thought it was awful pricey, BUT after using it, it was well worth the money. Great Job Dev's.
What can say????? Not only is this product going to save me a lot of time which therefore means money..
The product Support team have also done the same.. saved me time and money...
I am not very technical but fortunately for me the support that I received for second to none and Peter actually went above and beyond the call of duty for me...

I required a very simple method to upload many thousand pages of data into a hub site that I am designing for several multi national companies. Neither, myself nor any of my staff are program orientated, we are designers, which means we have to outsource, at great cost, programmers to help when necessary.
With Content Uploader this element has now been resolved for me, even my secretarial staff can help out. As designers we are always looking for ways to simplify processes. I was so impressed with Content Uploader and the exceptional customer care provided by Chris Taylor of freakedout that I upgraded to Content Uploader Pro to show my appreciation for the extension. If you work with entering repetitively structured articles or any input, then check this one out. You will find it exceptional.
Even my novice users understand spreadsheets. They LOVE Content Uploader Pro, and giving them a quick way to create content makes them very happy, which is good for business.
If you are moving a site, use any of the many data extraction programs to grab the contents of the existing site, and load it into Joomla almost instantly.
Whether you are building for yourself or clients, you'll want to send the author gifts- Highly recommended.

The time this component has saved me is quite honestly staggering! and far outweighs the cost of this fantastic component, that I have to say I was a little hesitant to pay.
BUT after a few component newbie errors, which I asked for support for AND were responded outstandingly quickly, I am sailing along and laughing at all the time I am saving and the profit I am making!
Would I recommend the "Pro" version of this product, ..... without any question.
Many components do clever things, but this does your work!
Fortunately the client had already given us the content in a spreadsheet, so it was a no-brainer to give CUP a try. Once we'd correctly setup the sections and categories the import was a piece of cake - literally saved us days of work.
When we ran into a minor problem (our ignorance, not the component's fault) we turned to the developers and got fast and responsive help.
Even better, it made handover of the site a breeze. Producing spreadsheets is part of the client's workflow already - all they have to do to maintain their site is keep uploading.
This has helped us save money. Think of it this way. Time is money. This component saves us time. Which then saves us money. So now the projects can go out the door faster. We love finding ways to speed up the process. Can you please make this work in our sleep now ;)
