I'm using the free version which does everything I need at the moment. Installation was straightforward. Implementation with J2.5 wasn't straightforward (probably because I was using a JA T3 template) but the support via the user forum was quick and clear and I was able to fix the problem straight away. The module works well on my website with both video and audio.

I've been using this player for a very long time now. It's pretty much the only player that includes a simple playlist beside the player that also supports YouTube videos.

The only thing I believe is left for this play now is to support responsive templates and possibly a playlist creator/editor for the xml playlist. It's a bit daunting to for my clients to be editing the xml files. And since it is xml, it could have a clear cache feature in the xml editor also. My clients are always complaining that they just added a video and it's not showing up.

I have the free version of the JWPlayer and it works greats. The module is very easy to use and setup with both audio and video files using the XML feed. Def recommend if you want something fast and easy. I also had a few support questions and they got back to me within 5 minutes. Pretty awesome. Hope to get the pro version for future projects. Joomlarulez, does rule, thanks guys.

I have bought a dozen plus Joomla tools, the best ones typically aren't free and have never had the kind of amazing support I've had with Joomla Rulez and their JW Joomla player. I was deciding on this vs Flow Player and had many questions to which they replied within an hour and then had more questions in which they replied. I still wasn't sure but decided to take the plunge and hope their after purchase support was the same. It was, I had a few questions and they answered again very quickly and had more questions and they again answered and in timely manner. I use this extension to embed youtube videos on my site with facebook and twitter sharing, it shows video in HD format as well and I had to have the Google analytics plugin to know which videos people are watching. It just works and again the support is the best I've ever run across in buying Joomla plugins. I got it working on my site, embarrassed to say, without really even reading their manual, that's how good their replies to my questions were!

We used the old version of this plugin for several years. Documentation was unusable, but after some googling and futzing around, we got a pretty decent setup going. It worked well, but after upgrading to Joomla 1.7 we discovered that we needed to upgrade this module, which is when all hell pretty much broke loose.

After spending an hour trying to purchase the new jwplayer license, we discovered that the website was so buggy that we could not register for purchase. That should have been a sign to us. The good news is that the webmaster is very quick to respond to inquiries and requests, and got us registered.

To our surprise and dismay, after purchasing a commercial license of jwplayer (we are non profit but wanted a non-branded player) we discovered that A LOT of features that were extremely important to us in the 4.x version have been inexplicably REMOVED from the latest version -- with no warning or explanation.

For example, the DisplayClick feature is gone, and so is setting the video to toggle "Mute/Off Mute". That's a very basic feature to remove without telling anyone.

In fairness, it's LongTailvideo, the vendor that jwplayer is built on, that deprecated features like this but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter whose fault it is, you still end up not having the functionality you need for basic functionality. Bells and whistles, yes, basic functionality, no.

Try the free version, and if it works for you then no harm no foul. I believe that the support is quick and timely but ultimately this plugin was money down the drain for us this time.

It's true that since 5.x version of JW player, who was released one year ago, some flashvars has been deprecated (not so much, around 3 or 4) but this has been made for optimize the flahplayer and as you notice yourself it's not our own decision but Longtail video does.

Also note that we have forwarded you to our commercial version who have the abilities to switch between version (4.x or 5.x and soon 6.x), this has solved you issue, it's pity that you omit to write it here.

Best regards

Not a lot of bells and whistles, but it is configurable and seems to play my FLV movie clips without any problems. Learning curve on this module is fairly simple and doesn't take too much time figuring out how to make it work.

Overall, I'd say it does what it says it will do with just a little effort to setup. Thanks for use of the module!

I want to share with all that this extension is great, I was looking something like that since long time ago and when I found it i downloaded and used it,
Works great!!! my site is now better, because I show many videos in a short space and the level of support received is very professional. I've had a few problems because of my ignorance but the help was quickly and useful.
Excuse my mistakes I am spanish speaker

We are starting an online-TV and tried many players and clones.
By far, this one is the most updated one and works smoothly.
The installation, as well as every upgrade, is really simple.
The module interface allows literally to configure everything (in fact, there is a final open field for flashvars).
But the thing I appreciate most is the support team. I've had only a few questions and they have been answered in a matter of hours! They gave me a very professional feeling. Moreover, they seem to pay attention to any user feature-request.
In summary, I am very happy with this product.

This is actually not the first time I've tried this. I never ended up using it for various reasons. At first it was the lack of any documentation at all (quite a long time ago), now it's because the documentation that does exist frankly isn't very good in my opinion. I did find the PDF's, but from the get go the information there assumes that installation was successful. In my case, it wasn't so even the first step wasn't possible because the tab they said to look for couldn't be found anywhere. There was an error right off the bat that locked all articles I tried to edit. I had to comment out line 19 in the plugin php file, which cleared that up, but may have caused my inability to see what I was supposed to be seeing according to the documentation.

Perhaps contacting them or using the forum I may have been able to clear it up, but the fact is there are other extensions that get the job done much more quickly and without the hassle of jumping trough hoops to get them to work properly.

I don't have time to mess around. I need an extension that either works out of the box and/or has much better documentation than this one.

Time is money. If you're in a hurry, and need a player that works with little hassle, I wouldn't recommend this one.

I'm sure this is probably a great extension if you have the time to work out all the kinks. I don't have the time. If you don't either, I would look elsewhere.

I take note of your review but this doesn't help here (me as developper and Joomla users who read this), your experience is based on a feeling not a real experience, this problem you describe can come from many reason other than the extension itself.

You say time is money, you have already try this product few month ago, then try again, then you review it here, I think during all this time it was possible for you to ask for help in our forum and understand what's happen.

You say the documentation is poor, there are around 50 pages of documentation, for me it’s not poor, your issue is not yet documented, this is possible but I can’t answer on it like you don’t have ask support in our forum.

Also, you are talking about a plugin !? to edit article ? I don’t understand this, you have commented here a module, there is no "plugin php file", can you give me the exact name of the file/package you have try to install and also the name of the pdf documentation you have read ? more i am reading this more i am pretty sure that you are talking about another extension.

Please feel free to contact us for understanding your issue.

Best Regards

I needed a way to easily implement HTML5 video in our articles with a good fallback to Flash so we bought the licensed version of JW Player. I am very happy with the product.

Performance - works almost perfectly. Serves up standard def and hi-def video on desktops.
Works on Apple devices and Android devices almost flawlessly (small resize issue with Apple devices)
Falls back to Flash player exactly as expected.

Supoprt - Haven't needed it because of the very detailed documentation and forums.

Functions much like other video plugins (like AllVideos or AllVideos Reloaded). I haven't used the module because I am putting all our video content into articles via the plugin. So if you have any experience calling a plugin from within an article, you can use JW Player.

This next comment has nothing to do with the product but I feel it is important to note:
You have to encode your video properly if you want to move to HTML5. No player/plugin will work if your video isn't sized and encoded properly.

This mod seems useless to me. There is no documentation on where to add your videos (directories) or how to properly link to them in the options. I have tried every thing , and the best I can get is my preview image. A little more than just “Select, edit and save the JW Player Module with your own settings” is needed. And the links provided by the owner in the previous comment sent me to the same kind of guidance as the “README” file. I guess I am using the wrong thing anyway. All I need is one video on my home page that functions like an “html5 w/flash fallback”.

Please note that a pdf details documentation of 48 pages is available since the 2.6.0 version (14 January 2011, 5 days before your review), just click on the documentation button above for download it.

We made it after the review of Forlio, as we always try to listen carefully users of our extensions.
