It cannot show the first image in an article by default. You must set your image as an intro image. If you do set it to default image, your image must not contain any text previous to it. If you have a lot of clients who aren't that web savvy, you're going to have a hard time. If you don't style all your articles the same way, you're going to have a hard time. If you're upgrading from J1.5 and have lots of articles with no intro image set, or text before the fist image, you've got a ton of work ahead of you. It's really frustrating, all other modules in News Display work by displaying the first image of an article, across Joomla, Wordpress, Drupal, etc.
I've had a lot of experience with Rocketheme, and I have to say, they have some of the rudest support agents in Joomla history. Unfortunately they have a very large Joomla presence. When a company like this develops a much needed extension such as this, other companies back off and come up with something else. Leaving a major gap in Joomla's external development. Not to mention when it's being used by so many template companies, you and your clients will be left greatly disappointed.
There's a lot of discussions on their forums about how ridiculous this missing feature is, to which they usually response "that's just your opinion" ... "we don't care."
Two big thumbs down on what would otherwise be a 5 star extension.
I discovered this wonderful module and I must say that I have never seen a better one in all the years I develop sites with Joomla!
Endless options and an amazing backend!
Easy to handle and fancy details which shows that the developer had us web designers in mind and that he wanted to make life easier for us :)
When using this, the developer has complete freedom to show or hide exactly the details needed or not needed.
Title from article or not, image from article or not, article desctiption or not.
And every option also gives the possiblity to add a custom title, image, description. Perfect when an article title is too long!
I really love this module and I am sure that I wil use this on many sites.
There is only one minor flaw in this extension: It is not multilingual, so one must add custom language files.
But that is something I can happily live with :)
Thanks for this great module!

the options is really complete with nice backend interface. also many nice layout that you can choose them for presenting your articles..
But the support is poor .. even if you pay for membership ,it is possible to get no answer in their forums. even if you find a bug and you know how to solve it, better keep it in your mind.. because they don't like you aware them by email..
this extension works nicely with joomla articles but no complete support for zoo until the current version 2.02. zoo items linked into current page and it can't detect article structure of zoo applicaions for the secound or third blog app..
Big advantage is that it's easy to use so clients without much CMS experience are quickly able to work with it. Custom overrides work like a charm as well. You can control detailed settings per item like image, title, link, description and tags. I've used it several times now and never experienced any problems. Your site might slow down a bit if you include immense amounts of items in rocksprocket, but if you use it for smaller blocks of content then you can make your old-style website fancy within 5 minutes.
I cannot recommend this module or anything from RocketTheme at this time.
