I´m using MINI FRONTPAGE on Joomla 3.0 with gantry. Customizations of mf is easy and it works perfectly aside from one small problem if an article has no image and mf is set to publish images it throws an error. So make sure the article that you are publishing include images. But I highly recommend this module.
This is a really good module. Lots of options like other members have said.
I have one main issue with this module. If you have different layouts on different pages, then whatever page you are on the layout will be the same as that page. Meaning you could have a homepage with a sidebar on right and a sidebar on left. On another page have just sidebar on right. If you come from homepage you will have sidebar on both sides. If you come from the other page you will only have the one sidebar.
The only way I know to get around this is remake the same module and add the appropriate layout you want that is connsitant with what page you are coming from. So you may associate one version of this module with homepage and another with the rest of your pages. If the layout is the same on the rest of them.
Otherwise it is a great module though. You just may have to do a little redundent modules because of this downfall.

I'm new in Joomla. And this is my first rewiew. I like this easy to install and use extension. It is so sample but has so many posibilities...so it's excellent. I had some problems in styling but excellent support help me to solve it.
Support was great and very fast. Also I learned a lot of thing about styling thanks to support.

It has no option to hide the "other articles" block. It has no option to link the Intro Text. It has no option to plcace the "Read More" button inside the text box ... Yes, it has many options , but also lacks many others.

Hi baijianpeng, Of course you can hide the "other articles". You just need to make sure the sum of Number of Columns x Number of Rows = Number of Articles
Simple as that :)

This is an excellent module. It does exactly what it says, and I used it for several months on my Joomla 1.7x website. Unfortunately, I began experiencing a number of jquery conflicts shortly after uploading it with other components and modules on my site. I LOVED THIS MODULE! It did everything promised...

Everything we did only offered a temporary fix. Anyway, I had to come in say GREAT JOB! If I didn't desperately need to other two components to perform some core functions, I would have stayed faithful...

This is one of the most useful free modules I have been able to find- it works reliably, and is wonderfully customizable through a robust back end interface. Not only is it good for displaying an article summary, but it is also the perfect solution for when you need to list articles after a lead article. Example: You can list articles 2-10 in a category.

It's an excellent extension. Works like a charm, or let's say "almost". Why? The button "Display Date" does not work actually. It does not display the date, beneath the title. Maybe it my fault and due misconfiguration, but I don't know. But since it is free and 99% of the ext. works very good, I am quite happy.
I was searching for a decent free module that would display just the title and the beginning of my most recent articles in a small module position on my home page... After much searching and trying out of other modules I discovered MINI FRONTPAGE and it does exactly what I need it to do!

Registration took seconds and so did setting up my home page so that it shows 12 of my most popular articles. I have it installed on Joomla 2.53. Thank you, ideal for what I wanted
Downloaded and installed this very easily, so great there. Unfortunately that's where the good times stopped rolling for me. The news items dsplayed OK, but in a grey box and neither the title nor the content in the grey box cliucked me through to read more of my news items, whe=ich were there, just hidden inside somewhere.
This is a free module, so nobody can comlpain about it and you'll see that the developer adapts this to requests, even those on JED (see below), so it's not the module or the developer that's flawed, just my experience.

One suggestion however, can you add the functionality to just select featured items (instead of choosing a category)? Or to enable sorting articles by whether they are featured? Thanks :)

M loving this module,only problem m facing is that when I install it on my homepage,and then I click on the articles through this module,some other modules dont work with that article.ex.disqus comments,some joomla default modules etc.Please help..I want to use this module
This is a great module withmost of teh features you would want (but omissions like inability not to show article that is currently displayed). The code isn't very nice but with some (heavy) template output overrides works great. Unfortunatelly it doesn't seem J1.7+ version is coming.

We have revamped the code and update it to work in Joomla 1.7/2.5. Have a try...
Good extension, but for static display of content only. I find the setting of parameters limited: picking from lists of sections and category names would be much more convenient than looking up every category id number. Also most formatting has to be done by editing css files.
One major bug: though the module works well for the most part with joomfish, it fails to pick up the translation of the category, rendering it always in english no matter what language is selected. I hope this can get fixed soon and I will gladly raise my rating.
