Editor's Note
- This extension requires registration to download.
Based on our combined experience, we have created probably the best tool to present articles for Joomla!
A huge number of options and possibilities for formatting makes News Show Pro GK4 a complete tool for making attractive www pages content.
News Show Pro is useful for preparing simple structures for individual articles, as well as complex arrangements for multiple articles and a list of links.
In comparison with NSP GK1, GK4 brings a few changes:
- Support for K2 component
- Support for redSHOP component
- Support for K2Store component (Joomla 1.5 only)
- Support for JComments (Joomla 1.5 only)
- Support for VirtueMart
- Module management options in administrative panel totally converted
- Image cropping
- Portal Mode
- Support for K2 component allows the user to choose between using a standard Joomla! article manager and K2 component for more interesting possibilities.
By converting module management options, its support is more convenient and easier. Except grouping options in subject groups, a few simple solutions were added which makes module support clean and neat.
Cleaned up module code looks friendlier for users whose browsers have JavaScript off. Thanks to the use of new technology, the module and its content should be indexed better by the Internet Search Engines.
Such changes were implemented:
- Support for avatars authors from gravatar.com service
- Editorial content of informative part of an article
- Two blocks for content connected with informative part of an article
- Improvements in the field of specifying word/symbol limit in article elements
- More types of caching articles and links
Changelog - version 3.0:
- Added support for VirtueMart 2
- Added support for Joomla! 2.5 article images
Changelog - version 3.3.1:
- Added support for K2Store
- Added support for the responsive templates
- Added new portal mode - Responsive News Gallery
- Initial support for RTL
- Option to wrap the content in the separate block
- Module efficiency enhancements
Changelog - version 3.3.2:
- Added new portal mode - Speakers, created for the new Fest template
This module is exactly what I needed, and pleasantly surprised by how detailed it has been made for non-commercial version.
One thing though, I am having problem applying "Portal Mode," as it does not show any contents whatsoever, where I would have absolute no trouble with "Normal Mode." Unfortunately, I could not find any solution in their forum. ("Use default CSS" to be enable didn't resolve the issue, neither.)
FAQ would have been nice, but I shouldn't ask too much. :-)

Very good and flexible. We have also used it for a scrolling "Testimonial" module. My only complaint is that it does not take to custom HTML very well but overall we are satisfied.

I have spent a week downloading, installing, testing, then uninstalling various news slideshows and extensions. This is the first one that worked correctly, does everything I need, and reads formatting correctly. I almost have to use free extensions because my site is on a non-profit budget. News Show Pro GK4 saved my site and my budget!
I used this extension on Joomla 1.5 sites with no problems, but this was my first time on a 2.5 site. Sadly, the module fails to show any of my content no matter how I set it.
Turning to the developer's website, you soon discover that to merely ask a question on the forum will cost at least $51 and given all the complaints on the forum, getting a prompt answer seems dicey at best. For anyone with an issue similar to mine, the developers seem to respond no better advice than "RTFM." Well, I did RTFM -- many times -- and it's not helping me. Bad attitude all around.
It seems like a fine extension, but it is not worth $51.

I can't say much but I just need this module. Nothing can be more simple and wonderful than this module. and thanks much for giving it for free..
I had version 1.3 of this component come with a template I purchased. I decided to update the module as I needed K2 support. The module that was functioning but without the feature I needed became completely broken. Choosing K2 as a source, caused the site to fail to load with an error from this module. Choosing Joomla as a source let the page load but with multiple errors. googling found nothing much on these errors, and there is no way to contact support on a "free" extension without paying for it. Documentation said nothing about these kinds of errors. It's almost dishonest to provide these kinds of things for free and not even allow basic access to a user to user forum for support, even if the devs don't want to directly handle your support requests.
First, I like this extension, it does almost every thing I need it to do. One flaw, you cannot use a dollar sign ($) in an article title or intro text (if displaying intro text). If you do use "$" it will not display it or the next 2 characters. (This used to be a larger Joomla issue, but no longer). With this being a free product understandably there is limited to no support, however, there isn't an obvious way to report bugs such as these (posting to the forum is locked to paid support accounts). I reported this bug through the sales contact form, as it was the only open door I could find. It has been about a month and a new release has been issued without a fix. Again, I get that support is for paying customers, but there should be an open forum or form to report bugs and a "known bugs" page to know that the developer is aware of bugs.
Item Order doesnt work in redhop, i tried all the options but nothing changed i shows only the first products that i have added. And unfortunately no support in their forum for free members.
Very good extension, free and highly customizable. Maybe perfect if also the other options over the first one are cutomizable, for example a multicolumns order for every kind of display.
Thank you so much for this component!

Amazing module indeed. I've installed it onto Joomla 2.5 within seconds. One module with so many variations! For those who love to edit styles to get a particular look this module offers so much freedom in presenting your articles. Perhaps the backend could be a bit simpler but the amazing support from the developers page made up for everything. A huge forum with really helpful staff and a Wiki for their products will answer any question that you could encounter.
Joomla is like peanut butter and GK4 modules are the jam, a match made in heaven!

It worked fine in Joomla 1.5 without any "menu items for the articles" but with apparently same relevant settings, in 2.5 the articles open on the front page and still showing all the front page stuff. What kind of menu items are they supposed to be for the articles? Is it fooled if they are in a menu that's not displayed? I don't want all the articles in the menu, just on the front page
P.S. It would be nice if the developer allowed posting to their community forum even without current paid subscription...

I used this module like 8 month ago and wasn't pleased with it. Now I moved to Joomla 2.5 and K2 and with all the options this module is probably the best news slider there is right now. Installed and running in 1min, now I have to adjust css. I tried all the other modules, but most are missing k2 support or are limited in showing k2 article details. Only module fetching the main k2 image. Have to check if it displays the rating.
In case you want to improve, show video, gallery and attachement icon when published in k2 so reader knows this article has extra media.
If they keep up the good work, this will be number one choice displaying news frontpage.
Thanx

Another great plugin from Gavick! I just installed and configured this for a rotating testimonials side module. It worked perfectly out of the box. Only features I wish that were available would be the ability to change link color for the "Read More" text. Perhaps this is an option and I just haven't figured it out yet. Either way, 5-stars! Thank you!
