The EasyImageCaption plugin generates captions from images' TITLE or ALT tags in articles and displays them below (or above) the images.
It has been developed as an alternative to Joomla!'s built-in javascript caption solution as well as to the JCE editor's caption plugin.
HOW IT WORKS
Before displaying a website the EasyImageCaption plugin searches the article text for images. It then takes the content of an image's ALT or TITLE tag (depending on your plugin settings) to use it as the image's caption. You may restrict the "captionizing" to certain articles or certain images through the plugin's parameters.
The behaviour is very similar to Joomla!'s built-in caption solution, but it does not use any javascript.
REQUIREMENTS
EasyImageCaption requires PHP 5.2+ and Joomla! 1.5+. A version for Joomla 1.6+ is available, too.

This extension can make automatic captions for your images and this works very well. You can customize the look and set many options.
Just don't forget once to set exclusion and this plugin will do all the work.
I prefer this one over Joomla "caption" class since it's more universal and robust solution.

This a simple and efective way to show captions. I'm using JCE and there is no incompatibilities.

This Plugin is pretty easy to install and configure. It works incredibly well for my Images in Modules, but for some reason it doesn't work in my Articles.. It also doesnt matter if i remove the caption.js or keep them linked..
Sometimes the captions appear, other times all I get is the first word of the caption. I am just using them in articles. I am going to have to look for something else. I can find no reason why some work and others don't. I need consistency an am not getting it.

This plugin is fantastic! It is simple to use and lets you choose either the Alt-Text or the Title field for the display. While it would be great if it showed the text within the editor, that isn't how a plugin works most of the time with joomla. Now instead of needing to embed a module with some custom HTML, I can just load my pictures and normal and have all the styling I need.
When I initially installed the plugin, I couldn't get it to work. I then emailed Thomas who explained that the plugin only worked with regular article content, not in the modules that I needed it to work in.
He then took it upon himself to make the changes that I needed for me! He is fabulous and his service is fabulous!

Installed it, and literally within seconds it was up and running! And, you get to choose whether to automatically create captions for images already published or not, other variables, I love it, easy, looks nice, great plug in.
Works perfect, easy config and looks great online.
As a newspaper journalist by training, I really missed a convenient possibility to add captions to pictures in my various Joomla sites.
This solution comes with everything I desire: Easy to install, easy to adjust, easy to use!
