Redirect Confirmation is a Joomla plugin that displays a popup alert box whenever users click external links. The box contains title, message and return/continue buttons. Users can either press button to proceed or cancel to keep staying on the current page.

Go to Joomla extensions- Extensions; Plug-in Manager.
Enable. Edit Basic Options. No need to do anything more when web links are created.

I used this to: I am trying to use this to setup a basic confirmation before being directed to any external links from my site. The demo is exactly how I want things to work, just never managed to get it to work. Documentation, even for a free plugin, is just poor.

Functionality

This little plugin does what it claims. I've used it since 2012 with Joomla 2.5 (haven't tried with 3.0 yet) and haven't had any issues.

Ease of use

Easy to set up. Takes just a few minutes to set up.

I used this to: Display notification before following external link. External link is opened in another window.

The plugin was easy to install.

The plugin allows you to give your user a warning that informs them that they are leaving your site and provides a dialog to allow them to continue or cancel the selection.

We have a site that is a railroad historical site that we wanted to use it on.

We tested in a local environment to evaluate the plugin.

We discovered that if you have a link that opens in another window this plugin has flaws that caused multiple windows to open rather than one.

We have an external links page that has multiple external links that when a user selected one link, many links opened in external windows even the ones that are not selected.

This plugin works if you configure your links to open in the same window.

We got very poor support so far with the ticket we submitted.
