Playing audio files on your ZOO enabled Joomla site (or ZOO app) is now very simple!

You can easily add an audio player element to any position of your ZOO app layout. Just set the configuration and start sharing any type of audio files (music, spoken words, sounds - anything you can record in an mp3, mp4, ogg, webm, wav, or flv file you can share).

The ZOOlanders Audio element for ZOO integrates with the powerful jPlayer JQuery plugin and even allows you to play audio files from online storage sources - stored in an Amazon S3 bucket.

If you run a Joomla site and you use audio players, the lack of support for Flash in many devices and the recent improvements for playback of audio and video files within HTML5 has been a welcome change. However, if you use ZOO, the standard ZOO audio player will not accept more than one song per player.

In addition, if you have an album page with over a dozen songs, pages take an extremely long time to load, and while the player looks OK when there is only one, any more then 3 or 4 looks ungainly.

So i was relieved to see Audio for Zoo. Not only does it allow playlists, it places them all into a nice looking player. It also accepts Amazon S3 as a file source whereas most players are limited to local files in your joomla folders. Thos are important savings on server costs if you manage large amounts of audio files and players.

This is all well and good, but to be fair i have only written this review due to the service that was proferred by Zoolanders. I was attended to on every ocassion immediately. The support was not only helpful but responded to a petition concerning the possiblity of utilising external URLs as audio file sources by adding the feature almost immediately. 5 stars.

Control every element's access permissions. ZOOaccess is a powerful extension to ZOO that allows you use the Joomla ACL to its fullest in your ZOO app. Native ZOO element functionality only allows you to assign elements to a User View access once and for all. If you want to control access to a single element in multiple ways (different for the submit form than a layout) you can't do it with standard ZOO. That limitation is now gone - in a big way. Now you can control access based upon User View access as well as User Group levels. You can also control access based upon where the element appears. You can also use the content of one element to control the display of another element (i.e. conditional element display). All of this is done using an 'override' approach, so you can set your default access rules in the element type configuration and just change it when needed.
