We installed this on a joomla 2.5 site. The overall layout and functionality seem decent. This seems to be what disqus wants you to use as it is the only joomla addon referred to on their site.
Unfortunately, support from Joomlaworks is non-existent. For that reason we will be uninstalling it and looking for something else.

Great Extension in terms of ease of use and styling but I don't understand why it doesn't link to the Joomla user database.
Commenters can log in via twitter, Facebook, Google+, and others but if they already have an account on your site, they can't just use their credentials from that to post. It doesn't make sense to me.

That question applies to Disqus (the service) and the short answer is that, being a web service, it's not meant to integrate that deeply into Joomla!. E.g. it's got benefits (like the anti-spam features) which could never be implemented into a Joomla! commenting system.
I use disqus as my comment system on 3 different websites, 2 wordpress and one joomla which I am new too. All three were easy to set up and a breeze to customize with CSS as you'd expect with disqus!
Now if I could only to figure out why disqus is above my social sharing buttons.

I install this on all of my sites - a whole level better than TinyMCE (even in extended mode). Thanks guys - Joomlaites applaud you!

Possibly, the easiest extension I've ever installed, and everything worked perfectly. Plus it's Google, Twitter etc friendly! An excellent choice!
This is a great plugin, works seamesly with Joomla even in 1.7. Just enter your disqus id, select the categories and you are done.
The only comment to do about it is that, despite the developer has a plugin for their big component K2 in their website, that plugin is not compatible with Joomla 1.7 yet, what is really a pity.
