Just go to Extensions » Maps » New, click on Coordinates button, then click on the place in the map you want to display and save it. Finally create menu link to this map.
If you need to set a marker or more markers, just go to Extensions » Markers » New, select map, click on Coordinates button, then click on the place in the map you want the marker will be set. Add description (you can include images too) and save it. Marker will be displayed in the map.
Use Phoca Maps Plugin for displaying map or more maps in the article.
You are able to select or set your own marker icons.
There are two different versions of Phoca Maps:
- Phoca Maps 1.0.5 - this version uses Google Maps API 2. If you need functions like GoobleBar, Continuous Zoom, Overview Map Control, then download this version.
- Phoca Maps 1.1.0 (2.x for Joomla! 1.6 or 1.7) or any later version - this version uses Google Maps API 3. You need not to create Google Maps API key for your site but some functions are not included (API 3 is still in Google Code Labs - not ready yet). This version is under active development and includes more new features.

I needed a simple, easy to use map where I could place any number of markers on a map, and when a user clicked on a marker it produced a pop-up box with custom information.
When I saw that Jan from Phoca had developed a map extension I knew I was in for a treat!
This extension does exactly that and even more.

Definitely the best free map extension for Joomla
I've been with Joomla for more than 5 years and I think this is definitely a great map extension.
Works great, doesn't break, no errors, setup in a few minutes, intuitive (no manual required), no need for support.
Pros:
Free google maps
Can have multiple maps
Can make multiple map markers on the same map
Can include markers description
Can include KML
How to pages on the site
Cons:
You have to install plugin separately and plug in is not on the same page as component.
It would be nice to include CSS styles for marker's pop-up.
Component description not up to date (does not mention Joomla versions upon 1.5).
No screenshots of extension on The Joomla! Extensions Directory nor on the site description.
Does not work inside of table or div when, eg. I want to put it right from contact form module on the same page.

I used this extension, it's very simple to use and configure. The only thing that I had to do, was to change the background borders, for the color that I was need. No problems with it! The maps and marks works very well.
I have been using this plugin for two years and find it to be the easiest and accurate mapping process.
I hope it will be J3.x compatible soon.

I needed to create a custom map to display the locations of each site of a company I work for. I was already creating a custom map at Google Maps and was wondering what I would use: iFrame or something? Then, I found this wonderful set of component and plugin. Allowed me to create a map as I wanted and even to customize the icons for factories, stores or offices. Very nice resources and yet very easy to use. Oustanding job!!!
It is great plugin. I am missing just one little part - phoca map button plugin. There should be a button in editor which adds a plugin code into article by selecting a phoca map.
