Whether your mail arrives is often decided outside Joomla, in DNS. Mail Log therefore checks SPF, DKIM, DMARC and MX of your sender domain and shows the result as a traffic light on the dashboard and on a screen of its own, so a missing signature or a toothless SPF record stops being invisible. Every check is a plain DNS lookup made from your own server: nothing is sent to reputation services or any other third party, and no API key is needed.

Privacy is built in. Out of the box only a short body excerpt is stored — no full body, no raw message. Sensitive mails such as password resets, confirmation links and one-time codes are detected by subject and logged as metadata only, so the reset link never lands in the log. Optional encryption derives its key from the Joomla site secret and keeps no key material in the database, and captured attachments live outside the web root, reachable only through an access-controlled controller. Reading message bodies is a separate permission from viewing the list.

When something goes wrong you see it at once — with throttled alerts by e-mail or as a Joomla message — and you can resend a lost mail in one click, to the original recipients or another address, with built-in abuse limits. A dashboard shows volume, peak hours and failure rates; log rules decide what is stored while display rules only hide rows; a CSV export is safe against spreadsheet formula injection; scheduled tasks keep the database and attachments tidy. Administrator-only; strictly local, no data leaves your site.

This listing is the Free version, and it is complete: nothing in it is time-limited, nag-screened or reduced. A paid Pro version adds what answers the second question — does it arrive? It retries failed sends by itself, keeps a backup outgoing route for when the first one fails and can send selected mail over a different server, reports trouble over a second channel such as a chat room, reads the mailbox your bounce reports come back to and keeps a suppression list of addresses that are dead, tells you what to enter in DNS for each domain health finding, and covers the log in GDPR information and erasure requests. Both versions come from one source tree; switching is a normal package install and keeps every log, setting and permission.
