I grabbed this extension a few days ago and must say I am quite pleased. Installs without a hitch and looks great "out of the box." There are a LOT of configuration settings, but I think that is a good thing, it allows you to tailor your gallery to your needs. In fact, I would like to see more. Easily able to edit css from backend and usercontrol seems pretty straightforward. I have yet to find an error, although it is still a new install. I have not tried any external links, saw some complaints about that. I rate this above RSGallery2, Gallery2 bridge, and most of the other galleries that are currently available for Joomla 1.5.

Great Extension

No hitches with instalation. Works well. No need to register (that really irritates me because I do not want to be registered on so many sites!). Thanks guys.
Can't add url (to link to an external website) for an image.

Can't upload images through public url, only can do from local machine.

No custom fields

Thank you!!

I have been using this for ten minutes and already see that it is far superior to morfeo show. I love that it is simple to make galleries visible to registered guests only and the bulk upload feature is a real asset. I cant wait to install cool iris!!

Hi, great thing for Joomla.

The only thing I can't figure out is, how to upload from the frontend?!
Owner's reply: You need to enable Frontend User access and enable at least one category for user uploads - it's just two clicks away!

Gr8 Extension

Hi..I have used the extension and it is very useful. Just what i was searching for since long, very easy to implement and great results..!!!

Good work.
I have gone through a lot of galleries on Joomla looking for the right one. I tried to like Phoca but could never figure fully figure out the process for creating user uploads areas.

With Joomgallery, it was a breeze and now it even has Piclens support!

Keep up the great work!

Ok, but needs work

Pros:

- Very clean design

- Easy to upload photographs

- Easy gallery setup and structure

Cons:

- CSS modification not easy and time consuming

- Frontend gallery layout poorly designed and could benefit from addition of tables or more advanced CSS - lots of thumbnails out of alignment in category page

- No option for square thumbnails

- Comment tags in Php/Html are in German - difficult to understand if not a german speaker

Overall:

Not as polished or powerful as Gallery or Coppermine, but bridges much more easily to Joomla than either of the previous two (Gallery Bridge is woeful). This has lots of potential and look forward to further updates.

Nice and Useful

This gallery is useful to split up your images into different groups, the lightbox feature and slideshow also very nice

The one down on the component which also is good in some cases, is the amount configuration
I have long bridged Gallery 2, as it was the only professional-grade photo gallery for Joomla. But Gallery 2 is difficult to modify, configure, move from one server to another and extremely resource intensive. And all other gallery alternatives either possessed too many bugs, required too many hacks and just didn't have the right features to make it world class and adequate for many common applications.

Now, there is JoomGallery. While I passed it over for months, mistaking it for one of those inadequate and extremely buggy alternatives I took pride in avoiding, I was mistaken to have not noticed it earlier.

It works. Configuration can be quick but can likewise be extensive for those looking to fine tune. The application is fast and feature rich. It's user and administrator interface is intuitive and actually works. I'd say, it is one of the best Joomla photo gallery components to date and one of the best all-around galleries I know of.

I was surprised at many of its features and particularly surprised that such functions as the Java upload interface as well as the zip upload actually works by default and without any hacking. And the PNG watermark also works and is applied dynamically to all images so that you can update the look of your site to reflect a change in your site's template as well as for evolving marketing needs.

To add to the beauty of its many features and functions, this Joomla photo gallery component possesses a beautiful array of options for image display, including New Window, JavaScript Window, DHTML Container, Lightbox, Thickbox3 and Slimbox. Each of these actually work and arrive as an option in the admin panel. There's no need to hack core files or install templates.

For a community and/or social networking application, it works well with Community Builder, providing CB plugin integration that works out of the box and without error.

This is indeed the best Joomla photo gallery component. Thanks!
