Why PX File Manager

Fixing a template, replacing an image or checking a config file should not mean opening an FTP client. PX File Manager puts your site's files one click away inside Joomla, with the editor developers already know and the permissions Joomla already has.

Explorer

• Folder tree with list or grid view and thumbnails
• Sort by name, size, date or permission
• Right-click menu to download, rename, compress or inspect
• Multi-select with Ctrl / Cmd-click and Shift-click, Back / Forward / Up, quick filter

Code editor

• Monaco, the engine behind VS Code: tabs, minimap, Ctrl / Cmd+S to save
• Syntax check for PHP, JSON, XML and INI before saving

• Unsaved-changes warning and reload from disk

Search

• Whole site search by file or folder name, matches highlighted
• Skips cache, logs and .git by default, with your own ignore list

Upload and archives

• Zip and tar.gz: compress a selection, extract in place
• Copy, cut and paste between folders; you choose overwrite or keep both

Trash

• Deleted files go to a protected trash folder
• Restore in one click for 30 days, or delete permanently

Images

• Preview in a tab with size and dimensions
• Copy the public URL, relative URL or file name

Folder listing on your site

• A menu item, no code: visitors see the files of one folder with download links
• Sub-folders on or off, only the file types you choose
• Read only: private folders and files the server can run are never listed

Security

• Super Users only out of the box; set view, create, edit and delete per user group
• Every file action checks Joomla's security token and the user's permission
• Locked to your site folder: ".." paths and links outside it are refused
• Asks first before adding files the server can run (.php, .htaccess, x.php.jpg)

• Joomla 5.4 or 6 (version 1.0 runs on Joomla 4.4)
• PHP 8.1 or later
• Updates through the Joomla update system
• License GNU GPL v2 or later
