It adds a WriteAlt dashboard where Joomla administrators can review local images used by articles, see existing alt text, generate missing descriptions, regenerate existing descriptions, and optimize images in place without creating duplicate files.

WriteAlt also integrates directly into the Joomla article editor. When editing an article image, administrators can generate alt text beside the native Image Description field and save it directly with the article.

The extension supports JPG, PNG, and WebP images stored under Joomla's /images directory. It includes bulk generation, image optimization, multilingual generation, credit tracking, and secure per-site API-key storage.

A WriteAlt API key is required. PHP cURL and GD must be enabled on the Joomla server.
