ZS Search for Meilisearch
Introduction
Meilisearch-powered visual search for Joomla — a Cmd+K quick-search trigger plus a full advanced-search page with facets, date filters, sorting and pagination.
**ZS Search for Meilisearch **is the search front end of a two-part pipeline: the companion extension ZS Searchify exports your site's content as searchifiable JSON objects. These objects can be indexed by Meilisearch. This extension queries that index and renders the search UI. It requires ZS Searchify — without a populated index there is nothing to search. Once Meilisearch index is connected and configured in the settings, the search UI is ready to use.
Visitors get two ready-made search surfaces:
a search trigger — a header pill or floating button that opens a Cmd+K quick-search modal, and
a full-page advanced search with refinement facets, date-range filters, result sorting and pagination.
Visitors query Meilisearch directly with a search-only API key — your master key never reaches the browser. The component holds the connection settings (protocol, host, port, search-only key, index, optional domain scoping); the module holds per-instance display settings. Both search surfaces render through one shared template, so they look identical.
Theming is granular but optional: accent colour with automatic shades, facet-panel layout (sidebar or horizontal row), per-facet widget options (Category and Tags configured out of the box), date-filter presets (today / past week / past month / past year), searchbox chrome, hit-chip styling, placeholder text, stats position, and an optional sort toggle (relevance vs newest first).
**Install the package **via System → Extensions → Install; it bundles the component and the module. Configure ZS Searchify first so your content lands in the Meilisearch index; you also need a reachable Meilisearch instance and a search-only key scoped to your index. Joomla 6, PHP 8.3+. Updates are delivered through the built-in update server.
