Introduction
Head Remover is a system plugin for Joomla 5 and 6 that gives you control over what the HTML head of your site contains: the scripts and styles registered by Joomla, by your template and by your extensions, and the meta tags.
Remove what you do not need
- Remove registered assets by WebAssetManager name (for example jquery, core, keepalive), by family (bootstrap.*) or by URL fragment, including the active assets that depend on them.
- Remove the generator and author meta tags.
Add your own
- Custom scripts (normal, defer, async or module) and stylesheets (with media attribute), loaded in the order you set, after the site assets.
- Custom meta tags with name, property or http-equiv, in order, HTML-encoded.
- A sanitised MOTD comment right after the opening head tag, also on error pages.
Safe by default
- Acts on the frontend only and never on the administrator, unless you disable both safeguards. CLI, API and non-HTML documents (feeds, JSON) are always excluded.
- Removals are opt-in: the lists are empty after installation.
- Interface in English and Italian. Update server with the SHA-256 of the package, so Joomla notifies you of new versions.
Requirements: PHP 8.1 or later and the requirements of your Joomla version (PHP 8.3 or later for Joomla 6). Verified in Docker on Joomla 5.4 and 6.2; JED Checker 2.4.4 with no errors or warnings.
Version 2.0.0 is a rewrite for Joomla 5 and 6 and a new installation (element headremover): the manual migration from 1.1.0 (Joomla 3) is described in the README. In the plugin manager it appears as "System - Head Remover". Disabling core or other dependencies can break site features: test on a copy of your site first.

Head Remover è un plugin di sistema per Joomla 5 e 6 che controlla il contenuto dell'head HTML del sito: gli script e i fogli di stile registrati da Joomla, dal template e dalle estensioni, e i meta tag.
Rimuovi quello che non serve: asset per nome WebAssetManager (jquery, core, keepalive…), per famiglia (bootstrap.*) o per frammento di URL, compresi gli asset attivi che ne dipendono; meta tag generator e author.
Aggiungi i tuoi: script (normal, defer, async o module) e CSS con attributo media, nell'ordine che scegli; meta tag personalizzati con name, property o http-equiv; un commento MOTD sanificato subito dopo l'apertura dell'head, anche sulle pagine di errore.
Sicuro per impostazione predefinita: agisce solo sul frontend e mai sul pannello, salvo disattivare entrambe le protezioni; CLI, API e documenti non HTML sono sempre esclusi; le liste di rimozione sono vuote dopo l'installazione. Interfaccia in italiano e inglese; server di aggiornamento con la SHA-256 del pacchetto.
Richiede PHP 8.1 o successivo e i requisiti della versione Joomla in uso (PHP 8.3 o successivo per Joomla 6). Verificato su Joomla 5.4 e 6.2, JED Checker 2.4.4 senza errori né avvisi. La 2.0.0 è una riscrittura per Joomla 5 e 6 e una nuova installazione (elemento headremover): la migrazione manuale dalla 1.1.0 è descritta nel README. Nel gestore plugin compare come "System - Head Remover". Disattivare core o altre dipendenze può compromettere il sito: provare prima su una copia.
