Introduction

Glossary

Most of the time, glossaries available for Joomla! have the same common and boring display. You should say "nice but déjà vu". So, I've decided to create something different with an original display. Each word should be immediately identifiable and the definitions are "hidden" with some CSS3 (I've been inspired by the Wikipedia's display).
For creating "Dictionary" Joomla! component, I've worked on implementation that would meet four criteria:
- Should be Responsive Design,
- Import and export the content,
- Should combine simplicity on backend and powerful on frontend,
- About coding, light is right.

Functionality

This had everything I was looking for EXCEPT for the ability to index content added to the glossary. That was a deal breaker.

Ease of use

The extension is intuitive and easy to set up.

Support

At least one other person asked about content indexing in the developer's forum but there was no answer. Because of this, I can't use it.

Documentation

N/A - pretty much nonexistent

I used this to: I was going to use this to build a dictionary web site but without the ability to index the content, I can't search, which renders the point of a web-based glossary somewhat useless.

Just what we need

Since 2012, "Responsive Design" is a massive trend in webdesign. Websites are mainly oriented to increase the user experience on any devices. In this logic, the lightweight "Responsive Tables" plugin is designed to make "Responsive Design" any HTML / CSS table, specially on mobiles. To create this plugin, I've worked on implementation that would meet four criteria: Doesn't break responsive layouts of the template, Doesn't unnecessarily hide table data, Still allows you to compare rows with a key column. No librairy Jquery to avoid conflicts, Most of the time, as you looked at data table, you realized that the first column is the main key. This is the reference for the other columns. I wanted my extension "Responsive Tables" to have this first column always available. So, on mobiles devices, the head of the table become this first column (the yellow one on the picture bellow), the table "flip" on the side. You just have to touch the table with your finger and move "right" and "left" the columns, the first one is still fix and available (see below). To avoid always possible jQuery conflicts, "Responsive Tables" don't use this librairy. The "Responsive Design" experience has been tested with success on iPhone, iPad, Android and BlackBerry. Caution : Please, don't use "Responsive Tables" to display images in your content. The plugin DO NOT resize pictures. If you want/need to display images, the best design practice is using the tag < div >, tables are displaying datas. Please, use my forum support for your questions and the JED for your reviews. Enjoy ! ========= Version 2.1.0 : add some improvements in code for a better Responsive Design experience

When I first released the Joomla plugin "Responsive Tables" in 2013, the "Responsive Design" website's market was emerging. A few months later, according to the requests of my clients, I decided to increase the power of my plugin simplying it for you. In this logic, I've been worked on implementation that meet 2 criteria: - Provide 2 ways to display your table responsively, - Anyone should be able to use it without knowing HTML code. First method Flip side The first method to display the table responsively is well knowed now. On mobiles devices (under 768px), the < thead >, of the table become his first column (the yellow one on the picture bellow). The table toggle on the side. You just have to touch the table with your finger and move "right" and "left" the columns, the first one is still fix and available Second method : Horizontal scroll The second method to display the table responsively is a little bit different. On mobiles devices, the table scrolls horizontaly (if the table is larger than the screen). You just have to touch the table with your finger and move "right" and "left" the columns. In this case, the table doesn't "flip" and the first column can disapear. This is different approach of the "Responsive Design" to increase the user experience. The "Responsive Design" experience was successfully tested on iPhone, iPad, Androïd and BlackBerry. Caution If you want/need to display images, the best design practice is using the tag < div >. Remember, tables are displaying datas. So, please don't use "Responsive Tables - Editor" to display images in your HTML tables. The plugin DO NOT resize pictures.
