JoomRevoke Widerrufsbutton
Introduction
Since 19 June 2026, section 356a of the German Civil Code requires every website that offers contracts to consumers to provide an electronic withdrawal function: a permanently visible button, a form, and an immediate confirmation on a durable medium. JoomRevoke provides all of it for Joomla, independently of the shop, booking or membership system you run - and it works on sites that run none at all.
What it does
- A module labelled "Vertrag widerrufen" for your footer, menu or any other template position, plus a menu item type for the form itself.
- A server-rendered form asking only for what a withdrawal needs: name, contact details, order or contract reference, the goods or service, and an optional message.
- An immediate acknowledgement by e-mail to the customer, carrying the content, the date and the time, as the statute asks for.
- A record in the Joomla backend with the exact moment of receipt, which is what the fourteen-day period is counted from.
- A notification to you, by default without any personal data in the mail itself.
- German and English throughout: form, confirmation page, both e-mails and the whole backend.
It works without JavaScript
Form and confirmation page are rendered on the server. A visitor with scripts disabled, an old browser or a screen reader can withdraw exactly like anyone else. Nothing is greyed out, nothing waits for a script to load.
The form never tells anyone what exists
An order number that exists and one that does not produce the same page, in the same time. A withdrawal form must not become a lookup service for other people's orders.
No third-party services
No CDN, no external mail service, no external captcha, no web font from someone else's server, no tracking. Your customers' names and addresses stay on your own server. That is a design decision, not a setting.
The licence never switches anything off
The licence key decides one thing: whether this site may download updates. Form, acknowledgements, records and backend keep working whether the key is valid, expired or absent. A withdrawal button that stops working would make the site unlawful, so it does not stop working.
Requirements
Joomla 5 or 6, PHP 8.3 or higher, MySQL 8.0.13 / MariaDB 10.4 or higher.
Please note
JoomRevoke is a technical solution, not legal advice. Which contracts on your site are subject to a right of withdrawal, and how you word your own withdrawal policy, is a question for your lawyer.
