EasySpeed — Performance Optimization for Joomla

The plugin supports Joomla 4.4, 5, and 6 and is designed to work with any template or extension. It also includes automatic adaptations for sites using SP Page Builder and Helix Ultimate. Each optimization has its own switch, so you can adjust the setup for your site.

Page-specific CSS

Templates, page builders, and extensions often load styles for features that a particular page does not use. EasySpeed analyzes the finished page and creates a stylesheet containing the rules it needs. It also looks for classes added later by JavaScript and retains the styles needed by menus, sticky headers, sliders, and animations. When the page changes, its stylesheet is rebuilt.

The reduced stylesheet can be included in the initial HTML response, allowing the browser to begin rendering without waiting for separate render-blocking CSS files. Font Awesome files are reduced to the icons used on the page; sites using both SP Page Builder and Helix Ultimate can also avoid loading duplicate icon sets.

Responsive image optimization

• Converts eligible JPEG and PNG images into WebP copies using PHP on your server. It does not use an external image API or charge per image.
• Produces appropriately sized images for different screens and adds responsive srcset and sizes information based on the page layout.
• Gives the important above-the-fold image priority, including hero images that a template or page builder would otherwise lazy-load. Other images can load later.
• Adds image dimensions where appropriate to help prevent layout shifts, while preserving transparency and avoiding unnecessary copies when the result would be larger than the original.
• Can also process background images in stylesheets. An administrator can prepare the site's images from the plugin interface.

Font and script loading

EasySpeed can serve Google Fonts from your own domain and use size-matched fallback fonts to reduce text movement while web fonts load. It also reduces icon fonts to the characters the site uses.

Scripts can be deferred while preserving their execution order. EasySpeed accounts for inline code that needs a library immediately, so common interactions such as menus, sliders, forms, and analytics continue to run without waiting for a visitor to click. The plugin can add early connections for external resources the page uses and reports the cost of third-party scripts without removing them automatically.

Built-in page cache

EasySpeed stores the finished, optimized HTML and serves stored pages to guest visitors before Joomla builds the page again. It can discover pages from the site's sitemap and fill or refresh the store in the background through normal site traffic, without a separate crawler service or cron job.

Cached pages track the articles they display. When an article is changed, unpublished, or deleted, the related stored pages are cleared for rebuilding. Changes to site-wide elements such as menus, modules, templates, plugins, languages, or global configuration trigger broader refreshes. Administrators can set a cache lifetime and exclude specific URLs, URL patterns, or components.

The cache is designed for dynamic Joomla sites: logged-in visitors receive the live page, and form security tokens are restored for individual guests. Common marketing tracking parameters can share the same stored page. Browser support for WebP is respected when choosing a stored variant. On supported FastCGI and LiteSpeed setups, an expired page can be served while its replacement is prepared in the background.

The Cache screen shows stored pages, their status, size, and expiry. You can rebuild or remove one page, or clear the store. A response header (x-easyspeed: hit) identifies a cache hit, and adding ?easyspeed=off to a URL lets you compare that page without EasySpeed.

Joomla administration and compatibility

• A per-page before-and-after report shows changes to stylesheet and script requests, blocking scripts, missing image dimensions, and HTML size.
• Individual features can be switched off where a page needs an exception; the plugin can be applied to guests only while editors work on the live site.
• Built-in checks cover server compression, cache headers, and CDN setup.
• Optimized files and stored pages are cleaned up when the plugin is uninstalled.
• Joomla 4.4, 5, and 6 are supported; PHP 7.4 or later is required. The product page reports testing on PHP 7.4 through 8.5.

EasySpeed works on ordinary shared hosting. For page caching, use one page-cache plugin at a time and exclude personalized pages such as account and checkout pages where appropriate. Results depend on the site's template, extensions, hosting, images, and third-party scripts.
