KCanonicalUrl
Introduction
Joomla does not add a canonical tag (rel="canonical") on its own. Without it, the same content reachable through several URLs — with or without "www", with tracking parameters from social or newsletter links — can be treated by search engines as duplicate content. KCanonicalUrl writes a canonical tag pointing to the current page's clean URL, without needing a full SEO suite.
Features
- Self-referencing canonical on every frontend HTML page, zero configuration
- Strips tracking query parameters (utm_*, fbclid, gclid and more) — fully customisable list
- Self-referencing hreflang on multilingual sites when Joomla does not already output it
- Force scheme (automatic, always HTTPS or HTTP) and optionally a fixed host (www vs non-www)
- Respects canonicals already set by components or other plugins (can be disabled)
- Frontend HTML only: never touches feeds, the API or the administrator
- Automatic update notifications in the Joomla admin
- Available in 8 languages: English, Italian, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish
Requirements: Joomla 5.x or 6.x, PHP 8.1+.
