Introduction

Banner Management

A banner management component that allows you to specify which articles, sections and/or categories a banner appears on. Can also be used to serve different banners for different languages. A further feature is the ability to display banner statistics on the front end for specific clients.

FlexBanners is a powerful banner advert management system. You can also restrict banners to particular articles, categories or sections, as well as all the default Joomla restrictions. It also works well with Google AdSense code - copy the Google code into the custom code box, and it just works.

FlexBanners now supports HTML5 banners.

Supports different banners for different languages! Perfect for use with Joom!fish.

Version 4.1.22 is a preparatory version that gets the Joomla 3 version ready for the move to Joomla 4 (Use version 5 for J4).

I am using the component in a touristic portal in joomla 1.5.23, and I must say I had it running well in just minutes after viewing a video tutorial on the tube.

Just loaded my swf file, create a client, banner, position and a custom size and configure module parameters and voilá! Banner running in front page.

Pros:

Easy to install and set up

Spanish translation available

Works as it says

Dont need any support at all

Fantastic for 99% of the users with banner managment needs.

Cons

Haven´t found any yet

No flash

Posted on 08 January 2012
I first became happy because the swf file frontend could appear as a flash banner. But that was wrong. The module converts flash to gif, so the frontend, I have still no display of flash.

Apart from this, I see it as positive that the module html coding seems to validate with web standards, which far from all the modules do.
Owner's reply: I'm glad you like the component.

Actually FlexBanner doesn't convert the swf to gif. It floats a gif in front of the swf so that it has a mechanism to count clicks. Without doing that it would be unable to measure click throughs.
hi, i saw the flex banner component in the joomla extension directory.

i think that is one of the bests solution for banner management. but I would just suggest some change. In fact would be interesting if the banners would change according to the url or even pages joolma, and if so can allow users to buy advertising space sector (for example, allowing you to place your banner in a specific section of the component Ads manager - example: car-ads in a given language). in this way alerts are relevant to 100% with what you see .. What do you think about it?

sorry for my bad english.

Owner's reply: I like your suggestions but it is unlikely that I will add them for a long time. I'm currently rebuilding FlexBanner to latest standards and nothing will happen until that work is complete (75% done so far).

Pretty Cool

I thought this was a pretty cool component. Just installed it because we needed a way for clients to view their own stats. Thought it was easy to install and configure and free (awesome)!. As far as creating a target=_blank as mentioned in some of the comments... its in the module people so when you assign it to a module positions its an option there. Which is perfect.

I do have one thing I thought would be good to see. In the joomla default banner manager they list how many impressions used of x impressions (ex: 50 of 100). It would be cool if this displayed in the client table as well as the preview table in the banner manager. Just makes it simple / at a glance.

Other than that.. Good Job.
Owner's reply: I've implemented this suggestion in the new release.

A very good job, but...

This extension work very well, but you are make a big mistake in my opinion. This extension need the target "_blank" for each banner and no for module. In this case allow you to put different banner in the same module/location with different target. This is what we want on 100% of the banner management. If you do this implementation your extension is on TOP. Please consider my review a suggestion and not criticism.

A demo would be nice.

I've been reviewing your product reviews and based on most reviews I am tempted to download your product and give it a test run. The only suggestion I will make at the moment is that you NEED to place a link to a workable demo of your product so weary ppl such of myself will feel even more confident in trying your product.

Great Component

It's really good component, it's very customizable.
Although the module supports 1.7 and has the nice feature of using swf files, there's no built in way to center the banner. From the forums I got half answers at best suggesting hacks in the .php and .css files but with a frequently refreshing template this is no option (as this would mean adding the hack each and every time). Also I've found the (swf) banners not to link properly in Chrome (they do in iExplorer, haven't tested it anywhere else). From what I said in the title the module is good on it's way but should add an built-in option to align the banners (three basic options left, center, right) and link properly.

Works very well

Excellent extension for Joomla and will be used on a number of sites.

One suggestion for the developer is to add in the ability to sort ad placement by author just like it does by category. That way multi-author sites can allow the individual authors to have specific ads on their articles no matter the category.

I have a suggestion...

This extension is great, I have a suggestion.

When I put a link on a banner, and I click it opens the site on the same tab, and should open on another tab or another window.

I use a IE9 and is working perfectly...
Owner's reply: There's already an option to do that. Look at the settings in the Module.
