MCP for AcyMailing
Introduction
MCP for AcyMailing is a free add-on for CS MCP for J, the free extension that turns a Joomla 5 / 6 site into its own MCP server. It gives the AI app you connect (ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, Cursor, VS Code with GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI or any other MCP app) 33 tools for AcyMailing by Acyba: lists, subscribers, campaigns, the sending queue, reports and settings. It covers everything AcyMailing Starter can do, and it works on every edition.
Why this exists. A mailing list is easy to get wrong in ways you only notice after the mail has gone. List counts in AcyMailing are a stored number that can be out of date, so this add-on counts real members every time. Someone on three of your lists gets one copy of a campaign, and the add-on shows you that number before anything is queued. If a campaign's name contains the word "confirm", AcyMailing sends it to unconfirmed subscribers too, and the health check flags it.
What the AI can do. 33 tools in 6 groups:
- Lists (5): list, read, create, update and delete lists.
- Subscribers (7): find, read, create, update and delete subscribers, and subscribe or unsubscribe them from lists.
- Campaigns (6): create, update, read, list and delete campaigns, and list templates.
- Sending (5): send a test to up to 5 addresses, queue a campaign, see the queue, pause or resume it, and cancel sending.
- Reports (4): list membership and overlap, duplicate subscribers, campaign statistics, and a check that your Events Booking registrants are on the list you expect.
- Diagnostics (6): version and edition, a health check, reading and changing settings, and a read-only table viewer.
Every tool describes itself to the AI app, so there's nothing to configure. Ask in plain language: "How many people would get this campaign, and who's on both lists?"
Nothing mails by accident. Creating or subscribing someone sends no confirmation, welcome or goodbye email unless you ask for it. Queuing a campaign shows a dry run first, then needs a confirmation and the exact recipient count. If that count has changed, it refuses.
Things it handles for you. Saving a list or campaign with only some fields would blank the others in AcyMailing, so these tools fill in the rest first. Accented text is stored double-encoded, and these tools read it back as you wrote it. Subscriber keys, passwords, DKIM keys and other credentials are never returned.
Permissions. The AI can never do more than the Joomla account it acts for could do in AcyMailing itself. On top of MCP for J's Use and Write permissions, every tool needs AcyMailing's Access Administration Interface permission and access to the page it belongs to, such as Subscribers, Lists or Emails. Settings that affect the server, such as the sendmail command, can't be changed through MCP at all. Read-only mode in MCP for J limits it to the reading tools.
Paid AcyMailing features such as scheduling, segments and automations aren't unlocked by this add-on. It reads AcyMailing's own edition check and refuses to change it. Separate add-on: MCP for AcyMailing Essential & Enterprise.
Getting it. You need CS MCP for J and AcyMailing. Install it from Components → MCP for J → Browse MCP Add-ons or with the downloaded ZIP.
Tested on Joomla 6 with AcyMailing Starter 10.11.1 and Enterprise 11.1.0: every list, subscriber, campaign and sending workflow through the tools with the results checked in the database, and the permission checks with Super User, Administrator and Manager accounts on every tool.
