Owner's reply: Thank you for the review, but you are making false claims about our support, about my replying to your email and about the imaginary feature you found lacking.

First of all, the two features you might be referring to are URL Redirection and .htaccess Maker. The former makes an HTTP redirect to a new page when your visitors try to access an old URL. The second feature helps you create a security-enhanced .htaccess file on your site and also allows you to enter custom .htaccess code if you so wish.

Your ticket, filed just before the expiration of your subscription that you did not renew, was inquiring about whether it’s possible to do a URL redirection without the new URL showing in the address bar. I replied to you on Monday, June 3rd 2019 at 09:06 EEST that no, this cannot be done either with .htaccess or a URL redirection component such as Admin Tools. That would require URL routing.

On Tuesday, June 4th 2019 04:10 EEST you contested my reply saying that it is possible. You posted a link to a video describing URL routing. At 08:54 EEST I told you that indeed this is called URL routing and told you how it works and what kind of .htaccess code enables it. At this point your original question is fully and truly answered.

At 18:21 EEST on the same day you changed your tune and told me that you said that it’s a redirection to an off-site URL (no, you didn’t). Moreover, you gave me an unwarranted lecture on HTTP proxying using Apache. You also seemed to be confused about the fact that Admin Tools’ URL Redirection does not make use of mod_rewrite; it goes through Joomla’s index.php to perform a redirection, meaning that at this point Apache has handled the request and you cannot go back and ask it to do HTTP proxying. Therefore our feature is not lacking anything. You are simply imagining a different feature than the one provided in Admin Tools. Nothing stops you from adding this kind of advanced .htaccess rules in your .htaccess file. That’s why the .htaccess Maker has the relevant, documented options.

At this point it was apparent that your request was out of scope of our support. We do not give tutorials on setting up .htaccess rules in general. So I did close your ticket as out of scope.

You emailed me directly on Wednesday, June 5th 2019 at 6:13 am EEST. I was asleep. I saw your email around 7:30 am after I woke up. I sent you my reply at 08:26 am EEST. It took me all of two hours to get back to you, despite the email having been sent while I was still asleep.

In that email not only did I apologize for calling your ticket a pre-sales request, I also explained why the ticket was closed and why it was out of scope in more detail than I did in this reply to your JED review here. Moreover, I gave you two replies to your last question. First, where you can put your .htaccess code to do Apache proxying, noting the documentation page where this information could already be found. Second, I gave you an alternative way to do it with core Joomla, using a Wrapper menu item and even gave you detailed instructions how to do that.

I do not understand why you complain that I didn’t reply to you when I did, why you said you received no support when in fact you did and why you complain about a feature not working fully when such a feature has never been part of Admin Tools. Finally, is your name Danny Kaiser or Bert Roberts? Because you sent me tickets and emails under the former name and filed a review under the latter. Why all the duplicity? All I did was try and help you with the issue you described. It’s not my fault that what you wanted help with was not what you described or that what you wanted help with is not and cannot actually be part of Admin Tools (HTTP proxying with redirects can only work under certain conditions which cannot be tested in advance, making this a potential feature broken for most people, i.e. not even a candidate for consideration).
