I just wish it could export menus and extensions....

This wonderful extension encouraged me to export my articles from a migrated and problematic J1.5/2.5 website into a fresh installation of J3x.



The export/import feature of J2XML via xml files works fine. It maintains article IDs so that article links still work, sometimes after some adjustment. Unfortunately this is not the case with weblink IDs so that article embedded weblinks don't work anymore. I had to do some changes in the database to adjust weblink IDs.



The 'send' feature could be a really nice one. It allows a direct transfer of articles from one website to another. But in my case it was only possible to send two articles in one step. So I couldn't use it for a larger number of articles.



Some room for improvement is also in the documentation. It is quiet thin and difficult to find. I needed some experiments to find out how J2XML works.



Nevertheles, the most important thing is that J2XML makes it possible to transfer Joomla articles from one website to another. Since it is a free extension, it may take some time to improve the other things.

The prosedure of import/export took 15 mins.

I've created a site starter with Joomla, JCE, XMAP, my article and configuration settings and my preferred Bootstrap Joomla templates (Joostrap, Joomlart), a few google fonts etc. It's a real timesaver - I can have a robust site up and running, ready for articles, in less than 15 minutes. I used upload my master, use Akeeba Kickstart to install, and go to work.

Rather than adding all the functions I wanted to three sites I was redesigning,I set up new masters to save time. I used J2XML to bring over the articles and FTP'd the image files.



It worked flawlessly and saved me a great deal of time.

Too bad that not even the export menu :-(

After hitting too many obstacles completing a j2.5 to j3 migration (the site had once been j1.5) I turned to this gem. In five minutes, I had all my content ported over. Donation ware so you can use it free - but I donated a few bucks for this colossal time saver. Plus, my sanity is restored.

Installed, exported and imported in one minute, this extension save me minimum 4 or 5 hours of copy paste articles and its completely free !!! Excellent work!

Easy to use and it works. I think the documentation could be more complete but the developer gave me an incredible and fast support. So if u use J2XML u should also donate the developer not a glass of wine but a full bottle.

I had 65,000 users and thousands of articles to migrate. This software did the trick, sending everything from the live site to the dev site. The one problem I had was the s/w would stop on errors instead of just logging and continuing. Still, it saved me a lot of time and $$



If it worked for K2 it would be perfect but I give it 5 stars because it's FREE.
