Who it is for
Joomla site builders and agencies who maintain multilingual sites and want content translated and linked automatically, instead of copying articles by hand and wiring up every association in the Multilingual Associations component.

How it works
Configure once — install the plugin, choose your AI engine, and set your source and target languages.
Save your article — write in your main language and click Save. The plugin clones the article, translates it through your AI engine, and registers the multilingual association in Joomla's native database table.
Everything translates with it — internal links rewrite to the translated version, the rest of your content structure follows, and SEO fields are translated and language-aware.

What gets translated

• Translate on save — translation runs automatically when you save an article. There is no separate screen or extra step.
• Native Joomla associations — uses Joomla's own associations table, so the standard Language Switcher works out of the box, with no proprietary database and no vendor lock-in.
• Articles — clones and translates articles into each target language.
• Categories (PRO) — clones and translates categories into each target language.
• Menus and modules (PRO) — clones and translates menu items and modules; module assignments follow the translated menu items.
• Tags, including parent/child trees (PRO) — clones the tag tree, translates titles and descriptions, and keeps parent/child relationships intact.
• Mail templates (PRO) — clones and translates Joomla system mail templates.
• SEO field-set (PRO) — translates the browser page title, meta description, meta keywords, URL alias, image alt text and image captions, each language-specific.
• Smart link rewriting (PRO) — detects internal links during translation and rewrites them to point at the translated page in the right language, so language switching does not produce 404s.
• Multiple languages at once — checks which Joomla content languages are installed and runs the translations in parallel when you save.
• Batch mode — translate many existing articles in a single run.
• Dictionary (PRO) — keep chosen terms consistent, or excluded from translation, across the whole site.
• Retranslation control — an "Update Existing Translations" setting (off by default, so your manual edits are not overwritten) and a per-save "Skip AI Translator" checkbox.
• Content fields — the free version translates the Title, Alias and Text; PRO translates all content fields.
• Custom Fields (PRO) — detects Joomla Custom Fields (Text, Textarea, Editor) and translates their values.
• YOOtheme Pro builder pages (PRO) — reads the JSON inside YOOtheme builder articles, translates only the text, and writes the JSON back intact, so layout, styling and images stay unchanged (batch mode required).

Translation engines
You bring your own API key for the engine you choose, and you can switch engines at any time (the plugin stores a key per engine). Supported engines: DeepL, OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic Claude, DeepSeek, Mistral, Grok (xAI), Google Gemini, Google Translate and Microsoft Azure Translator. The free version includes OpenAI, Mistral, Google Translate and Microsoft Azure; PRO adds DeepL, Claude, DeepSeek, Grok and Google Gemini.

Translation services and privacy
Translation is performed by the third-party AI provider you configure, so the content you translate is sent to that provider's API. Providers differ on data residency: Microsoft Azure (EU region), DeepL and Mistral (EU-based) suit GDPR-conscious sites, while other engines transmit content outside the EU. Check the provider's terms and your own privacy policy.
