Introduction

WT Image Resize and Convert is a Joomla plugin for automatic image optimisation when files are saved through Joomla Media Manager.

The plugin can resize images, convert them to another format and apply watermarks automatically. Instead of processing every image manually before uploading it to the website, you can define your image processing rules once and let Joomla apply them whenever an image is saved.

Images can be resized in several ways: fitted within specified dimensions while preserving their proportions, cropped to an exact size, resized by width or height, or left at their original dimensions.

The plugin can keep the original image format or convert images to JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP or AVIF, depending on the formats supported by PHP GD on your server. Quality and compression settings can be configured separately for the appropriate output formats.

Watermarks can be added automatically to processed images. You can select the watermark image, choose its position, adjust its opacity and relative size, and configure margins from the image edges.

For websites where different sections require different image settings, WT Image Resize and Convert provides processing profiles and folder-based rules. For example, product images can be cropped to fixed dimensions and watermarked, while blog images can simply be resized and converted to WebP. A rule assigned to a folder also applies to its subfolders, and the most specific matching rule takes priority.
