JO Read More is a lightweight Joomla content plugin designed to automatically insert a Read More break into articles displayed in category blog layouts. Instead of manually adding a readmore tag to each article, the plugin applies it automatically based on your configuration, ensuring consistent content truncation across blog-style listings.

This plugin is ideal for blogs, news portals, and content-heavy websites that rely on category blog views and want a clean, uniform presentation of article excerpts. By automating the readmore behavior, JO Read More saves time, reduces manual effort, and helps maintain a structured and user-friendly layout.

Please note that this plugin operates only within category blog layouts and is not intended for adding a Read More button to individual, standalone articles.

Flexible Truncation Options:
★ Truncate by Words or Characters: Choose whether to truncate content based on the number of words or characters.

Customizable "Read More" Label:

Functionality
I muddled with this for over an hour and simply could not get it to work.
Ease of use
While it looks easy, it's missing some features like being able to define WHICH category or which specific article to apply this too.
Documentation
Other than some screenshots, the documentation is either nonexistent or burried.
I used this to: I simply wanted to add a read-more button to one specific article.
Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

This plugin is designed to automatically add a Read More tag to Joomla articles displayed in category blog layouts, as stated on the extension page. It is not intended for manually adding a Read More button to a single, specific article.

Based on the statement “I simply wanted to add a read-more button to one specific article”, the plugin appears to have been used outside its intended scope, which may explain the reported experience.

For users who require per-article or manual Read More control, I also provide a separate free plugin called JO Read More Toggle, which is designed for that use case.
